B52's Love Shack single sleeve

Just got round to photographing this - a very old piece of art work done for the B52's single 'Love Shack'.
It was an over nighter done in gouache, and was a limited edition of a 1000, aimed at the fans. Might be worth something someday.

This was done as an idea for a cover for a supplement in The Times,
it was about learning at work with the Open University.
I used the shield logo as the shape of the rocket.
Alas, it was rejected along with my four other ideas.
So I'm now into my second year without a payed for
commission.

Groucho Marx and his artificial moustache and eye brows.
Still very funny. "Did anyone ever tell you you were beautiful?"
"They never will."

Cover ideas for Open University Supplement

If I were to sum up my life in three words it would be:- Rejection, failure and disappointment. These were all rejected ideas for a supplement in The Times about studying at work, some of them use the OU's shield with a circle in it. All very embarassing.

I think just about sums up the future of newspapers

Saw this Linda picture in The Evening Standard last night, and thought it very cool. The idea of the lads sitting writing together and laughing is how I want to remember The Beatles

Michael Clayton

Watched St. George at work last night in a very gripping film 'Michael Clayton'.
A masterpiece of brilliant writing and all very underplayed.
Hollywood you can do it sometimes, please keep trying!

Had a really nice day sitting at my drawing board inking pages for yet another kid's book that no one will want. Still it keeps me of the streets.

Birthday treat

My friends Emma and Terry treated me to a day out at the Chelsea v Stoke match. Was treated like Matt Damon all day. Had a great time. This is Rory Delap doing one of his famous throws, sadly it didn't work this time. Chelsea won 2-0.

Went down to Brighton for lunch with my friend Sorrel and to see the band her boy friend manages.
After beans and chorizo stew in Bill's we went for a walk along the beach. I thought this picture looked like a 'Christo'
We had supper in Sam's then to the Hanbury to watch the band.
They're called Husky Rescue and are from Finland. Their sound is very Phillip Glass meets Kate Bush, just my cup of tea. The lead singer is beautiful. As we were on the guest list we went back stage to meet them, they were great and very funny. check out the free music on their site below

Met my friend Sue Foll, the photographer, today and we went to see the Richard Hamilton exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery. I have to say I thought it a rather weak show and a bit repetative. The one piece that made me think was the two maps of the middle east. Still it was free so nothing lost, and they do have a very good bookshop.

The subject this week is muddy, which reminded me of being a kid and the fun one could have in a pair of wellies

The subject is focused and the idea was a scientist
trying to thread a needle to sew up his ripped pocket

A new take on the famous ”HOPE” poster. The line are the last words from the Robert Redford film “The Candidate”

The subject is Clumsy which I know a lot about, being long sighted. This is a homage to the great Saul Bass, plus a gag I couldn't resist.
Please vote for my T-shirt design below if you have a chance. Thank you.

This was done some time ago for The Times of London, for the cover of their Law supplement. It was about how prisoners can not escape their drug problems in prison because drugs are just as available there too.
